The basis of all communities is trust and acceptance. The Invictus Games brings more then that to Toronto. I have always believed that any community grows through strengthening our ties with those that need help, and also those that can lead and teach us something that we cannot find by ourselves.
These games represent those ideals we strive to find in ourselves, of honor, charity, compassion, true sportsmanship and more often then not...fun!
The start of the games on Saturday morning during the press conference, we saw all of those attributes, and more. Mike Myers, a well known comedian and entertainer, showed us that its ok to cry on the world stage, and that strength comes by showing ones true self and vulnerability, but the real games began with the first conversation I had with a member of the New Zealand tennis team. They were on the court at Nathan Phillips Square ( Toronto City Hall ) and were practicing against a formidable foe...The Canadians. I would wish that we could have seen it to the end. But alas... we struck out.
It appears that our Roving Reporter is trying to learn to play guitar....one could not ask for a better teacher then Silver Elvis!

George Chuvalo 80th Birthday Party
Our favorite Canadian Boxing Celeb, held is 80th Birthday in grand style. He arrived at the Cadillac Lounge on Queen West in a manner to outshine even the TIFF parties this week. He and his family were chauffeured in a 1961 vintage Rolls Royce. With the amount of press attention, people on the street thought royalty was arriving.
